Officers transfer automatically to the Retired Scheme unless they Inform Payroll and TVP Group Insurance Trust, prior to retirement that they wish to cancel their membership.
Cover is provided up to your 80th Birthday.
Should a retired member wish to cancel their membership of the scheme they should contact both XPS pensions and TVP Group Insurance Trust to advise that they wish to cancel their membership.
You must inform the above prior to the 10th of that month in order to ensure a deduction is not made that month.
You cannot join or rejoin the retired scheme after your retirement date from the force, unless there has been no break in cover, (eg; you joined the staff scheme)
Retired officers, who return to the force working as Police staff can apply to re-join the staff scheme, however this will be subject to underwriting, as your cover will be increasing therefore you will need to complete an up to date application form. Please contact the federation office for more details.

Retired officers who are no longer resident within the UK can continue to be a member of the scheme and receive the insurance cover, but with some amendments.
