Officers can claim back tax relief of their Federation subs for the current tax year and the previous 4 tax years. To apply for this, please visit the Gov.uk site here. A template letter is attached.
Officers may also be able to claim back tax relief on the cost of cleaning their uniform. HMRC will allow employees (and for these purposes, officers are employees) to claim for reasonable upkeep costs of clothing (i.e. laundry), for more information visit the Gov.uk site here.
The standard police officer uniform tax rebate is set as a flat rate expense of £140 per year.
